| A few of us TT.net guys (Me, Seb and DrDCanaceu in particular) decided to head up to our local drag strip for some shakedown runs and to try out our setups. Unfortunately, the track has an elevation of 2,710 feet!. What that means is much slower times and not the most ideal track for ETs...or so we thought. It turned out to be a great day regardless, thanks to the cold weather and the fact that my lazy ass FINALLY got out to the drags! In fact, Seb ran a new personal best even compared to sea level tracks and when corrected is just barely into the 10s! LACR is nice enough to provide racers with the corrected numbers (as well as the true ones) that take into account the drastic elevation. You and I both know it isn't an exact science, but it gives you an idea what you would normally run. We'll back it all up on January 10th at Fontana :) Results on the day: Los Angeles County Raceway (Elevation 2,710 feet) ET: multiply your et (at LACR) by .9675 MPH: multiply your mph (at LACR) by 1.0325 Seb Best time: 11.35 @ 124.5mph w/ 1.7 60' time - 11.5 @ 124mph Corrected: 10.98 @ 128mph Notes: He got a slip saying 11.5 but I have two different people (and commentary on the video during the run) that say the lights showed an 11.35. So it will surely take some backing up next month to clarify this. He's been known to knock out 1.6s with ease...I can't wait to see what he can do next month! 10s anyone? I'm confident he can with his latest setup! Major props to Seb for giving me shop space to prepare for the track and helping out! SeedyROM Best time: 12.89 @ 106mph (ugh!) w/ 1.94 60' time Corrected: 12.47 @ 110mph Notes: First time with the new higher stall speed. I nailed a 1.8 early on, but couldn't keep things consistent. I also found on that on 5 of my 6 runs the car was shifting at 6,100RPM! In fact, my 12.89 was with a peak shift point of 6,180RPM. It turns out my HKS ALC combined with Dupree's special tranny = insanely early shifts and horrid MPH (note the 106!). Because of my burnouts, my peak RPM showed as 7,100 until the second to last run where I reset it just before the launch. It was then I realized I just can't run (and don't need) the ALC. I yanked it out 20 minutes before closing only to blow the launch on my last pass horribly! We got most of my cursing on video too ;) Can't wait to get back to sea level and try to get into the 11s on stocker turbos/intercoolers/injectors/differential. I'm optimistic, but until I do it, I can't say shit. DrDCanaceu (Can Ace U!) Best time: 12.9X @ 110mph w/ 2.1 60' time Corrected: 12.48 @ 113mph Notes: Dr. Dean is the inspiration that got me back out to the track! He was out there earlier this month pulling 12.1s @ 2,700 feet with a 60-shot and 2.1 60' times. Once he gets his BFGs to get him down into the 1.7s and comes out to the sea level tracks, he might be in the deep 11s/very high 10s as well. Only time and practice will tell! So as you can see, a pretty damn good night given our location. If anything, this just makes us want to get back to our regular track and stake some claims on Arnel's lists! Considering how quick I was knocked off it with my 12.6 earlier this year, it'll be nice to get back on soon :) In the meantime, here's a few videos on the night: THIS is how you heat up your tires. The 10 second domestics had nothing on me today! The best part is, they weren't even my slicks ;) Uber burnout And here's Seb's monster burnout and 11.35 run. Wish I was on the camera so I could have zoomed in on the time! Seb impressing the domestic-loving local yokels And some random pics on the day (Dean, how did you manage to not be in ANY of them! Damn you...I know you have film though!) Early morning preparation. Okay, so it was after noon when I got there...
Seb hard at work installing last minute goodies for the track.
Seb in the pits
Yours truly
Doing this on stock turbos in the waterbox...
...will yield this on ET Streets :D And that's after just one burnout. I must have 5 lbs. of rubber on there in the garage right now.
That's it kids. I hope to bring you many more posts like this as the season starts up again. Just when I thought I wasn't into drag...I get sucked right back in. Thanks again to Seb and Dean for a great time today! Kamikaze shooters for everyone!
